FLIGHT 93 Memorial Proposal, Somerset County, PA
A conceptual project in response to an architecture competition for a memorial design at the site where Flight 93 was crashed by its passengers in Somerset County, PA on 9/11/2001. Design comprised three elements, and entrance building, a long driveway punctuated by signs in six foot letters repeating the voice recordings of the passengers as they struggled to take over the aircraft and down it before it hit Washington, and an oval mist ring over the crash site. The point is to render immediate in perpetuity the crisis and heartrending response of the plane’s passengers and crew that day.
