LOW COST simpleFAB DWELLING, Puerto Peñasco, Mexcio
Project design for a Jack DeBartolo III workshop charged with developing a quick-build affordable, two-room detached house in Puerto Penasco, on a site with no power. Construction required using off-the-shelf materials in a kit of parts manner. Finishes were rudimentary to keep the project affordable. Plywood sheathing on the interior stud- face performs a structural role leaving a raw wood finish. Hinged wall panels open to admit cooling Gulf of California winds; when closed they are secure wall components. A deep overhang shades an area equal to the dwelling’s enclosed space, virtually sheltering an outdoor room.
