HIGH SOCIETY CINEMA, Los Alamos, NM
The High Society was a cinema in the first mall built in post-WWII Los Alamos, New Mexico. Trans Lux bought the theater in the late 1980’s and divided the original house into a triplex with a new lobby, new seating, acoustical treatments, projection optics and surround sound. In the lobby design, the curved ticket counter rotates the customer’s attention to the vestibule and a counter-curved concession stand. Red fluorescent tubes glow in the ceiling.
